Tech Self-Assessment

After being informed that spring quarter classes will be online, I was very excited and nervous. I was excited because it meant I could stay in my PJs all day and save money not having to commute to and from campus. Aside from those two things, I really didn’t have much more to be excited about. This is when I got nervous. As a typical 21-year-old, I use technology in my personal life every day through the use of social media, however in my professional life I really only use it for school and keeping track of my schedule through the use of a digital planner/calendar.

Despite not being overly confident in my experience with technology, I am eager to begin learning new things and ways to implement the use of technology effectively in my personal and professional life. When my tech tools are “misbehaving”, I feel confident enough to try figuring it out and problem solving on my own, before seeking additional help. This could be my stubborn personality, or my refusal to ask for help until it is absolutely necessary. I am trying to find ways to work on this because I am sure it would save me time in the long run, as I could get back to work/whatever I was doing probably much sooner, if I were to avoid all of the personal trial and error.

As mentioned above, I am excited to learn how to better use and implement technology in my personal and professional life. Technology is advancing and I need to keep up haha!

  1. Mackenzie,
I think it is great that you are willing and able to use some trial and error methods on your own before asking for help. Whether it is tenacity or stubbornness, I think it is great!

  2. I felt excited that Spring quarter would be online, but now I'm starting to feel the nerves. Online classes are a lot of work and it's difficult to keep them all straight. I had assumed that this class would be helpful for improving the tech in my professional life, but I hadn't thought about how it could improve the tech in my personal life too. Interesting thought, thank you for sharing!

I totally agree with you! Online classes are stressful and keeping them all straight has been very difficult already. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  3. Hi Mackenzie,
I am also excited to learn new technology that will hopefully help me throughout both my personal and professional life. Plus school in pajamas and no commute defiantly is a bonus.
    Great blog!

    1. Hi Celynne,

I was very thankful to discover that some of the tools can be used both in my personal and professional life! Talk about a win-win! School in Pjs is great, going to be hard getting used to normal schooling when this is all over!
